Aggravating 2004 NV3550 Variations and Part Availability

Sloppy shifting in the green Jeep. Figured I'd start with the obvious, so I got new shift tower assembly and lever of the square shaft interface and retained with set screws like I've seen in every YouTube video.

Got mine apart and it's a round shaft shifter and retained with a T45. No problem - figured the new parts would bolt in, which they did, to a degree. Installed no problem until reassembly.

2nd, 4th and R, all hit against the shifter plate, so I clearanced the plate. After full assembly the shifter hits against the console. So these parts won't work.

I've found the new shift tower that I need, and was looking to re-use my shifter. Had to use a torch to separate the shifter from the tower because of the round rubber bushing which destroyed it in the process. Does anyone know if these shifter handle bushings are available anywhere? If not, which shifter do I need to buy?

Also, the inner shift boot was torn when I removed it. Apparently this was a two-year-only deal and is not available without the shifter plate for about $150.00 if you can find one.

I bought a Mustang inner boot to adapt to it but I'd love an OEM item if anyone wants to sell one.

Is this the shifter I need to buy?

There's a YouTube channel called Gear Box Garage. The guy who runs it is a savant with jeep transmissions. His email address is on his YouTube channel. I reached out to him for help and he walked me through everything. Really nice guy! If anyone knows how to acquire parts, it's him.

But I'm an idiot I installed the shift turret backwards.

However, now I cannot shift into reverse.

Now you know why everyone swaps out the crappy NV3550 for the AX-15!

I know that isn't an answer, but many have been in your shoes before and from what I understand it's very frustrating.
