I need to replace the shifter in my 2000 NV3550 and don't want to go with the B&M short throw because of how much lower the shifter sits. I'm looking at the 2 options below, but don't know which one my transmission shifter is. I'd prefer not to pull the console out just to look.

Anyone now which one the stock NV3550 in the 2000 TJ uses?

I know I can get the one with the handle, but why spend the extra money when I don't need too?

What do you mean by "how much lower the B&M shifter sits"?

I have the B&M in my 2000 with the NV3550. The throw is substantially shorter but the overall height of the shifter is no different than the stock was.

Every picture or video I've seen for that shifter shows the shift ball lower than the OEM one.

Can anyone post pictures of the B&M installed in their TJ?

I think they could come with either the square or round base? I feel like I’ve seen people take their stuff apart and have found it either way. My course of action would be to disassemble what you’ve got real quick to see and then order accordingly. Shouldn’t take too long to do.

For what it’s worth I did not like the B&M on my AX15, but I can’t speak to the NV. I do know a lot of people say the NV B&M nearly slamming their hand into the dash in 3rd. On the AX15 it just felt unnatural for a Jeep to me. Everybody raves about them (Core and B&M) in the Tacoma too and I’ve tried them out but I just like long throws on manual truck transmissions.

The B&M is only slightly shorter.

I watched that video a few days ago. The B&M looks like it is at least 2" shorter than the OEM unit.

Do you have a side picture of the B&M?

What is your transfer case shifter?
Candidly, I never noticed/recognized that it was shorter in height.. I was too enamored by the precise shift throws to even notice.

The images I posted above were readily available. Tell me exactly what you're looking for and I'll take a few pictures today.

Straight transfer case lever made by an eBay seller, that I bought from member @Moglocker. Mated to Savvy transfer case cable shifter kit. Knob took some searching to find what I wanted.

Looking for from either side looking into the Jeep. Looking to get an idea of exactly how low it sits so I can compare it to my factory shifter.

Thanks, I'll have to look up the transfer case shifter. I just want something different and already have a cable shifter kit.

I actually got the short shifter to stop banging my hand on the dash after my body lift/MML install

It will be hard to compare apples to apples because so many other things might have been done to the jeep that will affect the height of the shifter. Like Mike, I didn’t notice any difference.

Mine is in the stock location. I guess if the B&M is too short for me, I could always get the belly up skid plate installed sooner than later.
