Alternator charging cable

So my alternator charging cable blew apart recently and from the wiring of it, it goes from the alternator to a shrink wrapped area attached to the power distribution center. Can I just run my alternator supply cable from the alternator to the positive side of my battery and not worry about re-splicing to the power distribution center?

Make sure you add a fusable link.

Wouldn't recommend it... There's a fusible link between the alternator and battery, it's there for overcurrent protection. It isn't really a splice though, it's just a bolt and a stud. If I remember correctly the fusible link is snapped onto the side of the PDC and the charging cable bolts onto either side.

Okay cool I wasn't sure what was under that black wrap and didn't want to cut into it if was attached only by that. Thanks bud
