Does anyone have any recommendations on a good aluminum rear bumper with built in tire carrier for the TJ? I would like an aluminum one for weight savings.

You're not going to find an aluminum rear bumper/tire carrier combination. Personally, I'd go for Savvy's rear aluminum bumper plus Off Road Fabricator's spare tire carrier. ORF's carrier doesn't mount to the bumper, it is supported by hidden brackets that bolt to the rear rollbar bases and it doesn't get any stronger than that. This one... click on http://www.orfab.com/details.php?Application=Jeep&Part_Number=86201&Title=JEEP TJ SWING AWAY SPARE TIRE CARRIER - NON CANISTER&Active=Yes which I've run on two different TJs. No, it's not white as is shown in that picture. They only painted it white so it could be seen against that black TJ.

In my personal opinion, there is no stronger/quieter/better spare tire carrier. Not to mention you can run any bumper you want with it.

That one looks like it's for a JK. Is this the one you meant Jerry?

Thanks Chris, I corrected it... I thought I clicked on the TJ version but accidentally chose the JK version.

I am changing my Rock Hard 4x4 Rear Bumper and replacing it with the Savvy Bumper, for my tire carrier I went with GR8Tops Exogate http://gr8tops.com/shop/jeepmodels/tj-lj-exogate. I am going to install the Exogate that I have already ordered and received as soon as I go to 35s in a few months. I am running Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 285 x 70 R17 (almost 33s) and so I removed the swing away tire carrier and I am currently using the stock carrier on the tailgate without any issues. And I lost about 60#, and moved my spare forward 14".

I REALLY like that! Made in the USA and the price is right!

When you get it installed, would love to see some pics.

I went with the exogate as well. It ties to the rollbar and spreads the weigh across the entire tailgate and rear corner

None that I recall. Replaces all stock bolts and the rollbar link ties to rear seat belt anchor

Really? That's very cool! Do you think its stronger and sturdier than a rear bumper with a tire carrier built into it?

The RIGHT carrier? I.e. with a proper axle-type hinge, fab'd by a reputable 'M'urica owned shop? Not really. But damn sure better than anything ****ybilt could pump out

This thing looks stout but I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know if they are out of business or what?

Sadly ORF is out of business. Their website has been saying for a year they are reorganizing and hope to start up again but...

Hey guys, I know this is an older thread, but manufactures having been changing things and some no longer offer some previously suggested items. I currently have stock spare tires mount and bumper. I am looking to get rid of carrying my spare in the trunk. I have been looking around and wanted to throw some brands around and see what yall think. Some that I think look good are "Hanson offroad, ARB, Expidition one, Dirtworx, Rock hard. These keep it easy and put the carrier and bumper in the same package. Then there is MORryde/Exogate or the Genright. These would require finding a good bumper to go with it. The Genright would also call for some tail light upgrades. I have an '04 Rubicon on 35's. Thanks for any input.
