Another alternator whine thread

I've been fighting this for months. My GMRS (MTX275) is getting alternator whine. It started after I installed a new alternator. I've tried filters in the power line as well as wiring directly to the battery or from a switch circuit.

I've read all the threads about this issue on this forum and others.

What else can I try?

What's your alternator wiring look like? Battery terminals? Check all your grounds? I've seen radios make noise grounded straight to batteries because they became a better ground path then the OEM ones one the vehicle.

How do you have the radio mounted? I velcro'd mine to the firewall inside the dash and ran an RJ45 bulkhead fitting to my switch panel.

I picked up whine after installing the RC dual air compressor. I know the alternator has been replaced as it has the Durango tab. I'm thinking it may need replaced again soon.

If you haven't, look into Jeep Cables and replace all the power and ground in the engine compartment.

I spit out my drink, thanks! It's the loudest whine ever. Can't wait until she sees the other parts not in the house garage.

I have mine mounted to a panel behind the seats. I took out the rear seat, installed a short wall and a tray in the back.

The mic uses and extension and goes to an RJ45 in the panel like you have done.

I'll double check all the alternator connections.

I installed a Custom Battery Cables kit when I replaced the alternator.

I have heard of improperly grounded alternator casings causing the symptoms you are describing.
Place a grounding cable between the alternator casing and the frame.

I'd think the alternator would ground to the motor but what the heck. I'll give it a try.
