Another Half Door Option

I think I have $400 in mine.
If you buy these Bestop vinyl lowers for $254 you get the lower rod frame and the latches. https://www.bestop.com/products/lower-fabric-half-doors/
Then buy a sheet of soft door steel skins for $90. https://davescustomsunlimited.myshopify.com/products/jeep-soft-door-steel-skins
Weld on. If you want cut and add an aluminum skin on the steel skin.
About the same price as buying a set of Savvy trail doors.

Which is way better. Didn’t have them during that time though.
I didn't see that it said 6061. So are they? They also come with standard led's that light up the ground when the door is open. Sounds like a unnecessary gimmick.
They seem too big and bulky to give the benefit of an aluminum door. If I wanted factory half doors and had difficulty finding some this might be something I would consider as an alternative

Seems odd that you have to replace your factory bushings. Makes it a little more inconvenient to swap between trail doors and full doors.
I spent some time trying to convince my wife how beneficial a set of half doors would be.

I'm still a fan of the GR doors if I was buying some...
Since my half doors are already dented and I am not buying half doors at todays prices...
That's the ones I want, with the bags. But I'm afraid the bags may be tight with the PRP's. Even without them, the pocket on the V2 doors will be good for storing things like gloves, soft shackles, and similar items. Mainly just stuff that won't be too rattly
My doors are much stronger than the Savvy because they have the steel frame, steel skin, and an aluminum skin, but to be fair this does make them heavier. So, I guess which one is better depends on what someone wants. I'm very happy with mine.
I like the top edge of these because it follows the same angle as the tub. Small detail but large aesthetic impact. Quite a bit better price than the aforementioned trail doors too.
I think I still like your version better. I roll with a bunch of dudes that run 65k JL's With 40k worth of mods. When I see something cool, I say, "Oh wow, hos did you .... .... .... ?"
The answer is always the same... well I took out my wallet and made my CC vomit all over the problem. Now its done!
Don't get me wrong... my own JL is pretty impressive, but I still love the guys who do real shit.
Your project looks great BTW, I am following. I was interested in the Aluminum rods and brazing you did. Looked into that and may do some. I hope your brackets for the aluminum radiator holds up. Super cool build.
You've got my wheels spinning Jeremy. I'm thinking what if I went with your "design" and then on the inside, find a molle bag that I would like, weld some tabs on the inside to attach it to and maybe some sort of flat lip on top to add some cushioning to. Every now and then those soft doors will pop up on marketplace. May have to keep my eyes peeled.
Did you just buy your own sheet of aluminum and make your own armor so the cutout matches the handle? I know it's in the build somewhere but it's pretty buried by now.
