Hey! I have a 99 4.0 with the 3 speed auto. I currently have 3:07 gears and 31.7 inch Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires. I have recently moved to graduate school in the mountains and my gearing is not fun... I have to get in the big truck lane sometimes and one hill I only max out at 45 mph on it. Even with getting momentum before the hill. Anyway, I know 4:10 gears are suggested for 33s. Is my tire size (265/75/16) close enough to a 33? I'm worried if I go 4:10s here soon that I will be running way too high rpms on the highway. Currently I am running right around 2400 rpms going 70mph and around 2450 probably going 75 mph. I do not need to go any faster than 75 mph as the highest speed limit around here is 70 mph and that is towards my home on the flat land and much lower elevation. I also plan on going the 30 spline super 35 kit from revolution gear (and my local shop only installs revolution gear gears). Also, would it be a bad idea to have it regeared and immediately come back to the mountains? It is right at a 2 1/2 hour drive from home. The reason I am asking is due to failures since this is my only vehicle up here other than my bike. Thanks in advance!
