I've noticed that a person or organization gets accused of having an agenda when their agenda doesn't match your agenda. My agenda is to take care of my family and get out in the woods and do outdoor stuff. Old school type outdoor stuff. Many people are against my agenda for one reason or another. That's fine. If they get militant about it, my response is "Bite Me!". Sometimes it's ruder than that, but I try to be nice. I don't need to defend my agenda to anyone, it's mine not theirs.

I used to get all wrapped around the axle about the bunny huggers attacking my lifestyle. One day, out in the back woods, I realized that I was out in the back woods and hadn't seen a bunny hugger in years. Then it hit me. These environmentalist whack's are predominantly city dwellers who rarely if ever actually get out into the woods. I sure don't run into them. They are causing me grief by remote control. One of these days I'll run into a environmentalist Ranger who may chew me out and maybe write me a citation for something. Maybe not. Until then, I'll keep doing what I'm doing and pass it along to my kids and grandkids. They start thriving at 48 hours in the back woods by themselves, the bunny hugger would shrivel up and die probably. Especially the first time the sun goes down. That's my agenda.

Precisely! I would say that 99% of the environmentalists (or whatever they call themselves) are city dwellers that live in urban areas. Most of them have probably never even been camping in their lives. They're hipsters and metrosexual who are doing the whole 'environmentalist' thing because it's in style.

Newberg, Mcminnville and Canby are also on the list as a matter of fact. We're looking in those areas as well.

Basically we're trying to move further out where we can have some land, but no far out that if we need to get into town or grocery store we have to drive 30 miles.

That covers a lot of ground right there! Heck, the beach is only about a hour away. If you don't mind the flatland thing, there are a lot of smaller farms for sale between PDX and Salem. Hay sells for a good profit by the bail, and you can usually lease unused land for productive use to a local farmer.

Need to come to the central Appalachian mountains. 4x4 is embraced here and is a vital source of the communities income. There are plenty of places to ride without paying but there are some some good off-road parks that supports the local communities. People from up north and south come to this area to mud, crawl, or just ride.

Interesting that this got bumped back up. No, I'm not, but I once worked for a company that was after I quit being a roughneck on a drilling rig. The interesting part is I wound up helping a gent with his Jeep who lives in the part of the world where I grew up and also works in the patch. We were chatting about my lamentations above and his views were identical. Fracking is part of the production process, it is not the process of drilling for oil and gas. Not all wells are fracked and he vehemently agreed that water contamination in their drill bore was not good and was to be avoided at all costs. Water is cheap and messes up the mud mix and needs to just be kept out. How they keep it out is as I described, steel and cement.

Please explain how more rules are going to change the behavior of your redneck retards? Classic example that we (my family and I) run into every year, multiple times. It's fire season. The woods are drier than a popcorn fart. Some idiot has built a redneck retard fire and then driven off and left it burning, piled high with a weekend's worth of garbage. So, we stop and put it out. Dead out using our best backwoods practices. We haul out as much of the wet, semiburnt garbage as we can. The woods are posted no fires & etc as far as the eye can see, at every cross roads and every backwoods entry point. We carry our obligatory axe, shovel and gallon of water. And use them. We don't drive in the creeks (spawning habitat), we don't drive in the water meadows, we don't chase or harass wildlife...

But still, the roads keep getting cut and bermed, more rules keep getting piled on and the idiots keep ignoring them. I don't know what the solution is, but more rules doesn't seem to be accomplishing anything. They are ignored, no one knows about them, and there are just not the resources to enforce them. It's extremely frustrating to say the least.

I actually know what the solution is, and I've been saying it for a long time. We need some sort of a natural disaster on a massive, massive scale. Nature needs to reset the balance and wipe out half of the world's population.

I'm not trying to advocate death, nor am I saying that I would want it to happen to me or anyone I know. However, the balanced needs to be restored, and the best person for the job is nature... she doesn't discriminate after all.

There's too many people in the world, plain and simple.

Nah, no event will convince people outside of what they already want to believe. People will just assert a more convenient explanation to anything that happens, which puts them as right and their opposition as the cause, regardless of the truth. People will always believe what they want to hear over what is true if you let them.

Problems like this, whether it's large scale climate change or individual treatment of trails only stay controlled through open dialogue and, as @billiebob said, peer pressure. Sometimes that open dialogue can be civilized and nuanced discussion with open minds, but other times, it's just directly telling idiots and assholes that their bullshit isn't appreciated.

Which is funny, because all you read about in the "news" is nuclear weapons. They never focus on anything like this an EMP weapons, let alone cyber warfare. That's what people should be genuinely worried about... not nuclear weapons.
