I bought the hook from Lange to be able to put the glass down when I hang the hardtop, but I need to open the eyebolt to put the hook on it before I attach it to the bar.
I tried putting it in a bench vise at a 45 degree angle and using a prybar against the nut but that didn't work (saw it on youtube). Any other ideas?

with the right "bit" a multi tool might work. Angle grinder should be able to utilize a cut off wheel.

So if you were going to buy one tool, do you think I'd get more use out of as TJ owner: the angle grinder or the cut off tool? And also which one do you think would be more useful for around the house projects (because I'm starting to do some of that too)?

Put two short pieces of square steel stock vertically with enough space between them to slip the open end of the loop between them into your vise. Slip a length of a close fitting pipe over the threaded end and rotate horizontally. Should do the trick!
