Anyone familiar with how the anti-syphon restrictor should look?

Hi all~Im at a loss here

Anyone familiar with how the anti-syphon restrictor should look? If so, should the ball sit behind the spring, as shown in the photo? Or should the ball be at the top, and the spring behind?

I dont remember seeing the spring when I fed the syphon hose in. Im suspecting that the ball swapped position in the process.

I took this pic a couple years ago at a junk yard. Looks like the ball is supposed to be closer to the outside.

Now I can see the spring. It goes under the ball.
