Any one use the rhino line rattle can to pain their hard top? If so how did you prep it and how did it turn out? Thanks

All it would take is some light grit sandpaper and some good elbow grease. I actually think it would look pretty good due to the texture in the Rhino Liner.

I am torn on whether to do the U-Pol liner on a hard top I picked up . I was thinking of doing a medium gray tint just to be a little different . I think the gray looks good on a bright silver Jeep .The top does need a VERY minor repair , figure the bed liner will cover any minor flaws . However a clean paint job would save time and cash and should be easier to keep clean.

I did Raptor Liner (Upol) on my YJ and it was freakin' awesome! lol

I can't for the life of me find my hard top pics, but here is a half-door I did at the same time.

I used UPOL raptor with an aircompressor and undercoat nossle at around 60PSI, just took the time the prep the surface properlly and you will end up with a really professional looking job that will last. cleaned top with detergant and water, some sanding to remove the top coating on the hardtop, cleaned again then degreaesed with cellulose thinners. sprayed adhesion promoter then applied first coat, left to flash dry then applied 2nd coat within an hour. after final coat left to cure for a few days. My top had not fully dried in the photos below, I went on to do my side steps, wheel arches, fenders, side mirrors and hood louvers the following weeks.
Seen some terrible jobs done online with poor prep, corner cutting and users wondering why it chipped off. This stuff actually feels like an extra layer of armour when done correctly.

Thanks my only regret was not covering up the wall and ground infront of my apartment correctly when a sprayed smaller parts, this stuff is really hard to remove:eek: once you let it cure. I used acetone to clean all my equipment as soon as I finished spraying as it does dry reallly quickly.

I painted my hardtop using krylon flat black spray can, same as I used on my fenders. Only prep work I did was used a degreaser then washed it off. I think it came out fine. Def made a difference since it was a faded gray to start with.

Love. that hood, where did you find the louvered hood?

OLd thread, but that is a poison spyder hood louver, it attaches to the existing hood. You mount it and cut out heat release holes in the existing hood. If it is for looks you do not need to cut the holes.

I've painted Herculiner on other vehicle tops. And know a guy who had Rhinoliner applied to a FJ. Both look flat and dull, and super gritty.
I sprayed Duplicolor bedliner on my TJ bumpers. It looks better to me in that its not as gritty and has a semi gloss finish.
