Hi everyone, im asking this question because I myself am in CA, and plan to run highlines in the future, and I know that for highlines you must remove the stock airbox, but CA smog laws are so strict you cant do that. I am going to be making a cowl intake using the airbox from a ford windstar, but ill need to remove that come smog time... unless that passes in CA?

Ive passed smog twice now with my Buick century intake. Last time the guy was confused when he saw it but I just said that's a stock intake and he signed off.

Hopefully they will do the same for me when they see this

You can run a hose off the Buick to the cowl if you desire. Either way I think you are fine.

I have hi lines and an aftermarket intake. I got the hi lines a few months ago, passed smog less than a year before getting the hi lines done.

I did have some issues passing smog, but was able to after $400 to an exhaust shop. I'm not looking forward to the next smog test, so will probably look for a gray market smog shop.

You can as long as the aftermarket replacement has C.A.R.B. EO number and sticker. I'm going to see shortly if my relocated OEM box will pass or if I'll have to buy a C.A.R.B. approved hot air intake.
