Anyone use windshield frame armor?

Anyone use or seen windshield frame armor. I know Genright has some but are there any other options available. I’m prepping my Jeep for a new paint job but my windshield frame has been Leaned into a rock on one side and a tree on the other. I can fix the damage or replace the frame but I’d like some protection for it once I spend the time on it either way I go. What are my options?

You could use a light bar mount like that ^

Or there are light bar mounts more like a plate of metal.

Yeah I thought about that but I’d have to cut off the mounts as I do not want a light bar

Why are you oppose to the GenRight armor? Or are you just looking for other possibilities as well?

My experience is that GenRight makes really nice stuff.

I’m not against it. Just looking for other models before purchasing. I see Genright has two styles an older style and newer style. But the new one is $199. I know Genright makes great stuff. I have there front fenders, rear armor and flares, mini boat side sliders, stretch crawler tank, rear 4 link set up, hood louvers, and a few other parts I’m sure I’m forgetting as well.

I've got the early GenRight windshield armor on my TJ. I bought them back in 2006-7 I think. The trails up here in the PNW can get really tight between the trees some of the time. I installed the armor after denting my windshield frame on a trail. Since I have had the armor on I've rubbed the trees enough that I cracked my windshield but the armor has held up.

Not from what I see:

Laser cut and formed from 1/8" thick cold rolled steel.

How thick of aluminum would it have to be to protect the frame? I know the amount of force I've put against mine.

In reference to their fenders, rear tub corner armor, skids armor, etc, is there a difference in size when choosing their steel armor vs their aluminum armor?

I really don't know and have wondered the same. I know back in 2006-7 when aluminum was becoming popular this was debated a lot but I couldn't tell you now what the results were.
I don't know that on this part if it makes a huge difference or of you are just giving it a little more strength. And as for that would it being aluminum really matter? What is the reason for wanting aluminum?

Some of my friends have the same style that @Wildman has and they work really well for up here, the rest of us that don’t have any have pretty dented up frames, myself included.

I'm not going to argue the merits of trying to keep the weight down or not. The ones from UCF are 3lbs aluminum and 5lbs steel. So while I understand the point I'm not sure 2lbs make that much of a difference. But yes it all adds up over time so cutting corners where you can could shave off 100+ pounds easy.
