Are manual and automatic short consoles the same?

I'm looking for a short console for my 1998 sport automatic. A fellow TJ has one for a standard transmission and says they are the same. I don't know and before I send him the money I would like to know from you pros from Dover (from the movie MASH). Dear God you guys talk about everything else. Mud flaps? Somebody jump in there. Answer this and you can go back to who has the best lifts and front bumpers. Just kidding. Don't kick me out of your club.

Just to clarify...you have a long one (2 cup holders) with the storage container and you want to know if the shorter one (one cup holder) will work ?
I have a manual 99 TJ and got a 2000 TJ shorter one...fitted like a glove.

Should be the same. I believe it's just the bezel that's different. On the manual it's a boot, whereas on the auto it's actually a plastic bezel.

Oh ok...I'll took some photos of my old Manual one I swapped out these measurements may help.

Thanks Chris. The only manual Jeeps I have owned were CJ 7s.
