Axle Gear Ratio

Hello,

I have a wrangler TJ 2004, 2.4. My stock axle gear ratio is 4.11.

I want to upgrade to 30''-31'' tires (with 2-2.5'' lift).

I have found some charts about the axle gear ratios (i.e. https://www.quadratec.com/c/reference/gear-ratio-guide-for-larger-tires )

I am a little bit confused, because my stock tire size was (215/75r15, which is 27.7''). The chart shows that the best overall performance is with tires 30''-33''.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you left which transmission you have out of your Profile. Ignore charts like you found on Quadratec, they don't take into account which transmission you have which is as important to which ratio you should be running as is the tire and engine sizes.

The 2.4L has a bit more power than the older 2.5 engine does, see how you like it geared as-is with your new 30 or 31" tires. You have 4.10 now, it's not cheap to regear so see how you like it after the new tires and then decide. 4.56 would probably be optimal with your engine but the cost to regear is pretty steep when just going one step as you would be from your current 4.10.
