Bagged Differential Fluid

Used bagged differential fluid for the first time (used AMSOIL but Valvoline has also now offered these). Game changer!

What took 5-10 minutes (and usually an arm crap during) to pump per differential was about 60 seconds per differential to fill the axle.

The bags do make it hard to judge the amount when it doesn't take a full bag (rear diff Dana 44 took 2 full bags but front Dana 30 required 1.25 bags). I just emptied one bag for the Dana 30, then used a cheap plastic measuring cup I had in the garage to measure out another cup (0.5 pt) and put it back into that first (now empty) bag and put it in the axle.

Winner and worth any extra dollars compared to the plastic jug!

I absolutely dread doing diff fluid changes, these seem to make it a fair amount better.

I'll try bags next time, but for anybody that can't find their preferred oil in a bag and needs to pump it, I got this pump on Amazon to fill my AX15 (which takes over 3 quarts) and though I didn't time it, my misery level by the end seemed to be much lower than having done even one axle with the generic parts store pump.

At first I thought bagged differential fluid was a Canada thing, like their bagged milk.

but I have to admit that bagged differential fluid makes much more sense wherever it comes from.

Now I feel like an idiot. Roughly how much hose do you have now? I have the same one and it works well but can be a little difficult with the full length. Does yours screw on tight? Mine will slip on the bottle if I try to tighten down too much.

Maybe 4", only need the hose snug don't need to kill it. I also have Currie covers so it helps that the fill hole is flat.
