Best Exhaust Manifold?

I know this is an old thread but…

Is there an advantage to a one piece or two piece?

Simplicity?

My 97 is a breeze to take apart. Lots more space for activities especially with one cat beside the transfer case.

That being said...in between emissions laws and reprogramming the PCM or dealing with four O2 sensors for newer models...

I also believe there is a strong argument that a two piece cracks less.

Seems like people love em or hate em. I put a Banks header on my 97. Hasn't cracked (or I haven't looked) in three years.

Only thing I hate about the single is the donut flange...if it wasn't for the lifetime warranty from Banks I would cut off the flange and install a v band.

Your 2004 does not have a "flexible" option for replacement manifolds. At least none that I have ever seen. 2000 through 2006 are all 2 piece manifolds so they did not have the problems the earlier 1 piece had.

Did one of your's crack?
If so, unless you're looking to upgrade I'd just replace the one that cracked... Keep in mind it's not just as simple as pulling 1 section of the manifold and replacing it... the intake and exhause all have to come off because the gasket is a 1 piece fits all thing.

I don’t know if it’s cracked or just a leak from seal somewhere. I haven’t jumped completely into this yet.

It definitely sounds like a little bit of air leak with acceleration. I guess it could be in a lot of places

Best way to check is with smoke... If you have a shop vac you can reverse it to "blow smoke up the tail pipe" and watch for where it leaks out...

Yes I know how it sounds, and yes I intended it that way...
