Best low profile diff cover for Dana 44 front?

As far as I'm aware, that style half cover hasn't ever created a clearance issue. Stuff usually happens on the upper half.

The RockJock track bars are the best fitting.

Are OEM Dana 44 steel diff covers all the same? If I replace the G2s, I'll need OEM to run the half guard. Buddy has both but only loaners. I hear the rear thick covers can be an issue as well.

I believe I have both my oem diff covers, if you can't find one somewhat easily DM me and we can work it out. The front and rear were identical, as far as I could tell.

Appreciate that. I might take you up on it. I have a sand blaster and rattle can with the best of them.

Assuming brand new OEM from JustDiffs for $84 + tax + shipping for 2.

All of this waits until I get suspension sorted out, the LJ reassembled, the ring & pinion show up and I can drive it to the installer. I guess I could assemble it dry for checking clearances and trailer it to the installer. hmm.

As far as I'm aware, a Dana 44 is a Dana 44, unless it's a G2 axle.

Yeah I wonder too. It should have a visible stamp or label on the end of the rear axle if not OEM. Didn't see anything and nothing from the PO about that.

Yes, they work great. 1/4” steel. They also supply some diff cover bolts with an Allen Head. I don’t like those bc I can’t torque them to spec and am just guessing, so I bought some longer bolts to replace the OEM. Try to find some bolts with a thick head.

Yeah, if you have a Rubi or f/r Dana 44, the same hard hat should be right. The shape is the same.

I'm sure we've all seen the clear acrylic diff cover videos that show what proper lubrication of the gears should look like, and what changing the inside of the cover can do to that flow of lubrication.

And we're talking about front diffs so it matters even less than it does in that video unless you drive really fast in reverse.

It changes nothing on or inside the cover itself, the extra protection is welded onto the surface of the stock cover they use.
