I read a few articles on here about soft tops, and it seems the universal opinion is Bestop. When I bought my '99, that's what came on it. It's starting to look a little shabby and has a few tiny holes in the top, so I'm thinking of replacing it. One of the excellent articles I read had illistrations that showed that my frame was indeed a Bestop Supertop frame. I really don't want to have to chase down an original Jeep frame, so the Supertop is they way I plan on going. The sailcloth top is a bit more money than I care to spend, but the Black Denim and the Black Diamond are fairly reasonable. Anyone know the pros and cons of either/both?

as far as I know the black denim and black diamond are more or less the same except in appearance - the black diamond is a darker black whereas the denim has some gray to it.

Never had sailcloth so I can't comment on that, but I've been happy with the Black Diamond of my Trektop NX.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that the black diamond has a five year guarantee while the denim only has two. Does your NX take the Bestop frame or the factory frame?

Does your top have the OEM style surrounds or the old style Bestop ones? The new Bestop top kits come with the PEM style surrounds, which are a better design. Bestop couldn't sell them aftermarket at first due to a patent.

I believe they're the old style Bestop. I haven't been caught in any typhoons, but they seem to work ok.
