Anyone have feedback on the Bestop Saddle Bags? Bestop 5410815 Black Denim Roughrider Saddle Bags for 1992-2006 Wrangler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SA4K6/?tag=wranglerorg-20 I love taking the kids camping in the Jeep but with younger kids, I need the rear seat, + a full cooler and even with my hitch rack, not lots of space left for “car camping”

I’m assuming I could get a weekends worth of clothes for 2-3 people, but what about cookware, sleeping pads etc?

Dang you!!!!! Now you have given me something to add to my Jeep list on Amazon!!!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

I prefer the old fashioned style saddlebags. You can fit a lot of stuff in them too. 🤫

Those look handy, but I'd get a trailer. There's never enough space when camping with kids.

Along the same lines, I have one of these in my LJ, but it's substantially more money (but it is made in the U.S.A., so there is that):

I'm trying to like this enough to order one, but I'm not sure what I would put in it.
Currently, my gear goes in a storage box up against the tailgate.
This makes access to the bag even more difficult.

How much weight can you put in it before it sags and blocks the rear view?

Specs on the website state a 30lb limit. For my use case, I’m better off getting a slightly smaller cooler 50vs70qt so I can double stack the yellow HD bins.

Not much. I use it for very lightweight stuff, like clothes and some camping gear. I posted it based on red02tj’s stated intent for the saddle bags, which it’s fine for, including some sleeping pads:

I've had one for a few years and love it. It is sturdy and can hold some heavier items. I have recovery gear, winch controller, bag of spare bolts/nuts, ARB tire patch kit, poncho, spare accessory drive belt, and a few other items stowed in mine. It is convenient and out of the way, but not secure. I would definitely recommend it and I'm considering getting another one for the other side. If you are using the backseat, it does somewhat block the window view for rear passengers.

Thx, I’d probably start with one but even if it gets me one less bag, or can do double duty as a clothing bag that I can bring into the tent it would be worthwhile. How easy is it to install/remove with the softop on?
