Bestop trektop NX tailgate bar issue

Hey guys,

just installed a bestop trektop nx on my lj today. It was a b**** to put on but we got it 99% done. The one part we couldn’t get was latching the tailgate bar in to the tailgate bar mounts. It’s so close but won’t roll in to place. I figured I’d just let it chill for a couple days and stretch out and try again later. I was wondering if anyone else has run in to this issue before and what you did to fix it? Thanks!

Unhook the 2 header clamps at the windshield , roll it in , and then latch them back. Flip the top back if needed .

Put a hair dryer on it if needed , but with the windshield header unclamped , it should not have any major resistance ...you most always want clamping the header down your last move with most tops.

I have that top on my '06 , it was a job new to deal with the back ...and I was iffy about it vs. the standard top. The flip back sunrider feature is nice on days you can only enjoy the top off a little while because it is quick ...early spring , etc.

It's grown on me ..and Bestop is always good quality.

Mine is always a struggle, but mine only has the windows in for about a cumulative week per year. I have the sunrider open and pick a day thats as close to 80 as I have the patience to wait for, and I let it sit in the sun for an hour or two beforehand.

Yeah that thing was a bitch to get on the first time. I had the sunrider folded back, rear window facing the sun... I ended up putting vice grips on the lower bar for a little extra leverage to get it in. After it was on for a full winter season it stretched out pretty good and now I can just rotate it in by hand.
