Bilstein shocks

My Jeep came with the new 4600s. I have only used Bilsteins on all of my vehicles. I have a friend with a YJ, and he bought a 2 inch Rancho lift that came with Rancho 5ks and he absolutely hates it. I have ridden in his Jeep, but since it is leaf sprung it rides so different any way I don't have much of an opinion. I used to have a JK, and I didn't care for it, so I sold it and bought a TJ. My JK had factory Rubicon shocks so I cannot tell you if Bilsteins are good on there or not, but a JK is not the same as a TJ, so I would probably take their opinion with a grain of salt. People here have actual TJ's so for me if they say they like the Bilsteins, that would be where I would start. And actually I will probably run the OME that comes with the lift, when they fail I will replace them with Bilsteins again. That is my opinion. Good shocks really do make a difference.
Probably anything will be better than the cheap skyjacker shocks. I've run Bilstein and Rancho on my trucks for years. They were both the good. I have a set of Bilsteins on the way for my TJ.
I have the Bilstein 5100s, but I can't in good conscience recommend them over another shock because I don't have any experience with another brand except what was on the Jeep when I bought it. Unfortunately, I have no idea what brand those were because the PO painted everything black.
I will say this though; the sidewall rating of your tire, the PSI of the tire, and the weight of your TJ all play a factor in how the suspension feels. It's sad for me to say, but I have E rated tires which have an incredibly stiff sidewall along with a very light TJ. So my experience on the Bilstein 5100s can be dramatically different than someone on a C rated tire with a heavy TJ.

Jury is still out on the Rancho RS5000X shocks because I only have them on the rear so far, so if you're willing to wait a bit I can give you a comparison against stock and OME's. Lower the PSI on your tires brah. 27 psi is the sweet spot for DD.

I always kept mine at 32 for the longest time. Put the psi at 28 few weeks ago and it's crazy how much better the ride is. The TJ is so light that you really do feel every damn bump. Psi needs to be 27-28 if you want to keep the kidney belt off hahaha
My last TJ I installed the Rancho 9000XL adjustables. If you want to have a shock that you can adjust depending on your use that day they are great shocks. I currently run the Ranch 5000X shocks on the Rubicon and really like them, in fact I just received a set for my F-250 which I'll be installing tomorrow
