Blower nightmare

did you find the right part number? I'm currently facing the same issue.. 2001 TJ in Thailand, RHD.

Hello everyone.

I have found myself here after weeks of frustration.
My blower motor is going bad, I have a replacement for the resistor pack and HVAC unit, but cannot for the life of me find anyone anywhere selling the right blower motor for my model.

All the mopar sites say my particular blower motor is discontinued, and everyone on eBay and Amazon selling ones that supposedly fit an 03 TJ aren't the right ones.

I'd rather not pay the $700au the Jeep dealership is asking for, but so far they are the only ones who seem to have what I'm after.

So is there anyone here who knows where I might find one? Or is there someone who has found a way to make one of the other ones fit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm starting to run out of hair to pull out...

I know this is old but I am replying for anyone else who has this issue. What I found easiest was just to put the new motor internals into the old motor housing, only takes a couple minutes and lines up pretty well. Might have to do a little sanding but other than that it’s easy. Also I have a 2005 rhd but it has the older blower motor so idk if the rhd use old parts.

did you have to use the fan from the old one? I thought I'd try the same thing swapping the housing but it doesn't seem to push air right

I'm doing the same thing on my 04 rhd. i swapped the housing but it doesn't seem to push air thru the dash right. did you swap the fan blade also?

I've just noticed I've never updated.. I've ended up ordering the Mopar 4864956 on eBay for $240 ($340 incl shipping and customs to Thailand).

Same seller has currently one listed for $388 - so I basically made profit for buying it "cheap" - at least that's what I gonna tell myself :-)

Working flawlessly plug&play since - and no more melting blower switches since.. or melting cables. I figgured it's worth the cost compared to burning down my Jeep due to an electrical fire.

just a wild guess but if the motor is spinning in the wrong direction, just flip the pins in the plug. Noe clue which is the correct direction out of my head.

i did that and the the motor spun the right direction (clockwise) for the fan that came on the new lhd motor. i thought originally as long as the fan sucked air in from the outside and pushed it out the middle it would have worked with out swapping the fan but it doesn't seem to work that way. i wonder if it's the shape of the air box and it's inlets are for a fan that spins the opposite direction

that ones gives a pretty good insight and understanding into the LHD air box... was also quite helpful debugging when one of my lever in there broke..

that was very helpful. thank you. i thought the air moved thru the fan opposite way then it actually does so tomorrow I will try and reverse it.

The RHD blower motor is an exact mirror of the early LHD blower motors. Right down to the direction the fan vanes are angled.

I bought one from eBay UK when I need one. Wasn't much money. Don't know if there'd be any sellers willing to ship out of the UK but might be worth a look.
