So my body mounts need to be replaced on my 05 LJ. The LJ only has 38k miles on it but I think it sitting for a lot of its life in California deteriorated the body mounts. There is no rust on this jeep at all except for the body mount bolts haha. I have heard the horror stories of snapping bolts and want to do everything I can do to avoid that. I found this post on the YJ forums of drilling really small holes in the body to get Liquid Wrench onto the top of the threads.

Anyone done this on our TJ's? Do you have photos of where you drilled? I have the the replacement mounts and time so I want to be patient and spray these bolts for at least a week.

I did not drill any holes. My Jeep was from Colorado originally. Had some rust but not too bad. I sprayed each of the bolts with Kroil every other day for about three weeks before doing a 1.25" body lift. I sprayed at the bolt head and where I could stick the little red tube in holes in the frame and doused Kroil toward the top of the bolt and nutsert. I started out giving each bolt a little snug turn and then applied a little loosening turn. Then back to tighten and a little loosening. Kept doing this and got a little more extraction each time until they came out. The minute I felt any resistance I sprayed more Kroil and retightened and then slowly kept working them loose. I replaced the stock pucks and bushings when I did the BL. Majority of the rust was on the top end of the original bolts. All new bolts got a healthy dose of anti-seize.

Try using an impact on a low setting and see if they back out. Might need a bit of foward and reverse action. Impact set low enough to not damage anything if the bolts don't come out.
I have a NY 06 and they all came out using this system. Impact and heat are two of your best friends when dealing with rusty hardware.

Liquid wrench each night for a week at all of the locations. I had to do a frame swap from so much rust, and 9 of my mounts came out pretty easy - the two middle side mounts were rusted entirely away.

I’m in MN, and broke the first bolt I tried loosening. After that used a 1” hole saw to access tops of bolts, liberal amounts of kroil, and lots of patience. So far I’m down to 2 left that are still pretty tight. A little light back and forth pressure on the breaker bar coupled with my impact will get them.

Bought some CJ/YJ drain plugs to cap the holes I drilled

Thank you everyone for the input! After spraying the bolts down with penetrating fluid every weekend for a month I did the job today. Had no issues what so ever. Done in 1.5 hours. I have been dreading this for a while, glad I was patient and sprayed over a period of time. Also pretty crazy how much better the jeep drives now. no more squeeking! Thanks
