I will soon (now) be needing a AC system. I bought my Tj this winter without one and summer is beginning to show it's ruthless heat. Along with the relentless 80% humidity here on the gulf coast. I have a small budget so I'm looking for the best deal for my money. I have looked at kits online for around 1000. I have also thought about about but not checked out may be getting one from a pic and pull in Houston. Or maybe buying one piece by piece on eBay. Just wondering if anybody has any thoughts or experience on the subject. Like I said limited budget, thanks in advance.

one thing to be aware of, it seems like every single TJ year the A/C is a little different.
The A/C kits are also different then OEM.

I put an A/C kit in my son's '99

I have used two A/C kits from pitstopauto.com, one on my 88 Bronco and another on a 92 F150. They are cheap which is why I used one on my 88, really just to see how these cheap thins work (about 250.00.00 for a new compressor, dryer, PAG oil, set of green R-134a o rings, and hoses for both vehicles). Then we used the same parts on a 92 F150. It has been fours years on the Bronco and two on the F150 and both A/C's are holding up just fine in South Texas Heat. Both compressors are just a quite as the factory ones were. I was and still am pleasantly surprised.
