Buggered Up Gas Overflow Plunger.

So I’m an idiot. I installed a new to me Savvy gas tank skid today, everything skid wise went together great. While I had the tank dropped, I decided to sand down the tabs on the notorious gas tank plunger to fix the overflow and slow filling issues that I’ve just been living with. So to start one of the “hooks” of the four tabs holding the basket decided shear off. I don’t think this is probably that big of a deal, as when I reassembled everything it seems to be still solidly holding the basket in place. I filed the tabs down on plunger with jeweler’s file, and the plunger now moves perfectly.

When I reassembled it the first time I didn’t hold the plunger down out of the way. That ended up pinching and putting a small tear the orange seal on the plunger. Will this tear be a problem for me? I put about 5 gallons in the tank the stood it on end to see how bad it would leak, and just small bit was dribbling out. I have no clue if this would be a good standard to judge it by. I’m trying to source another plunger but I’m having a hell of time finding one. I’m hoping you guys could point me in the right direction or am I overthinking this one. I should of took some pictures before I reassembled it, but again I’m an idiot and didn’t do so.
