Next on my list of modifications is to install a transmission cooler in the LJ. The previous coolers I've installed were all B&M 70264. However, the down side to that cooler is the size ( the height really). Once you install the power steering cooler, things get crowded. This time I'm planning to do the following:
- add the shorter, but longer, cooler @mrblaine uses, i.e. the Setrab 53-10748-01
- drill four holes in the front side only of the "V" brace
- tack weld mounting nuts over the holes
- use short nuts to mount the bracket to the "V" brace, aided by Blue thread locker.
For the bracket to hold the cooler I'm considering using a piece of 2x2x1/8 aluminum angle The brackets (top and bottom) would be drilled to attach the cooler, then they would get bolted to the "V" brace. Does this make sense?
