Buying new tires

Morning y’all , about to buy new tires and I’m wanting your opinion.
Been looking into BFGoodrich KM3 & KO3 and also Kinda KLever M/T2.
It’s my daily and my trail ride. 80/20 ( dirt, some rock and or mud, wet,dry, never know what ya might face in Mississippi).
35x12.50-15.

I'm curious about the Klever but all my direct experience is with BFGs. KM3s if your crawling and KO3s for a daily.

I was strongly considering the Klever MT2, but got a deal on what I have. I also couldn't find much for reviews other than Six Feet Under Fab. Everyone else with reviews are just overlanders that talk about road noise and forest roads.

There's only one or two people on here with them that I've seen. Kenda has a lot of respect in the dirt bike and ATV world for being good tires.

You have 2 MTs and one AT laid out, a little different there. The AT will be the best daily pavement pounder, and I really like KO2s, but they don't do well in mud and really need some wheel speed. The Ko series is a good all-around tire and the one I'd go with for a driver.

I'd expect any real MT to get significantly less miles than the equivalent AT. In the south, if you are really anywhere near 20% off pavement, I'd 100% go MT.

Really happy so far with the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W I recently put on. Road noise decreased and feel just as confidence inspiring as the duratracks I had on previously.

I have been happy with the Toyo Open Country. When I mounted them they all five balanced up with no more than 1.5 Oz in any position and they ride much better and quieter than the Goodyears they replaced.

I've had both BFG MTs and ATs. I didn't find much difference in off-road use here in the desert for mild to moderate wheeling. I did notice a drastic difference in on-road use, with the ATs having much better traction on dry roads and a WAY more traction on wet roads (not that we have much of that here).

Welp, the 06 TJ I purchased last September came with brand new Falken WildPeak AT's in 285-75R16. I made two trail runs with those last fall and came to the conclusion they are close to worthless on rock, most especially wet, steep rock, even aired down to 10 psi. The replacements are supposed to be delivered this evening, 33-12.5R15 KM3's, the exact same tires I have on the 55 Willys CJ 3B. And yes, BFG KM's don't wear all that well but great tires for any real off road. This will be the fourth set of those I've run over the last couple of decades.

I will admit the Kendas were pretty tempting but essentially the same money as the KM's and, in my mind, not worth the experiment for the investment involved. I have a friend that put those on his DJ3 trail Jeep over the winter so I should know how well they perform by the end of the summer.

I ran the ATX for the last 3 years and they wore down 3/32 over that time. While that ATX was a great tire, they did not climb as well as the mud tires I previously ran. Due to my rig being a dedicated trail rig, I switched back to Mud tires and can confirm they do work better off road. At least in climbing rocks with loose gravel and in high traction situations. I was hopeful they would get better grip on slick rocks but after a few rain days in Hurricane I learned I was incorrect.

BFG got such a Big head at one time they wouldn’t advertise a warranty on the AT tire as they knew it was a cash cow. My group of wheelers have gotten to the point that no one in the group runs BFG any more due to everyone being down on the trail at one time because the side walls took damage running a BFG. AZ has sharp rocks and we can’t be having weak tires

I haven't had that experience with the KM's and the sidewalls are in the rocks all the time. I'm also of the opinion that putting fancy wheels on any Jeep that sees real trails is a total waste of money. They only look fancy for maybe a couple hundred feet.

I had the old Kenda Klever (kinda clever) MTs on a previous Jeep. They showed nearly no wear after 25,000 miles on the street (main use for the wife's Jeep). If I had the money, I'd buy the new ones over BFG tires of any kind. My BFG MTs were OK, and any ATs just don't look right on a Jeep IMO.

Definitely a trade off. AT is going to be better on pavement, MT better on trails and rocks.

BFG - I had the AT KO (the first one, not the KO2) on my first Jeep. They were great on the street and horrible on rocks. They just wouldn't grip. They were 33X11.5 roughly.

In my experience, BFG run small. A friend had the KM2 in a 37" and they looked like they were 35". Also seemed to get the most flat tires in rocks, thin sidewall. Not sure if the KM3 is any better.

Falken Wildpeak AT4 - I have these on my DD, Ram 1500. These have been great on pavement. Have not taken them offroad. Would definitely buy them again for a DD.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT - Have heard these are the best AT for offroad use.

Toyo Open Country AT - Had these on another DD (Ford F150). They handled well and seemed to last decent amount of time. Only complaint was that on windy mountain roads they chirpped a lot and seem to be a bit slippery on corners. Minor off road, no complaints

Cooper Discoverer STT Pro - Hybrid tire, not AT or MT, somewhere in between. Handled well on pavement and on the rocks.

I will be going with Kenda's again when I get new tires.

I have the Klever MT on now and will be going with Klever MT 629 when I buy new.
