Buying new tires

Mickey Thompson MT 33s on the TJ - 50/50 on / Offroad and when they wear out I will buy same in 33 or 35. I don’t need 35s but they do look great lol.
Put MIckey AT 37s on the Gladiator aka JT which is 80/20 on/off road and would get again. IMO the wet road handling is better than the Falkens it came with.

Morning y’all , about to buy new tires and I’m wanting your opinion.
Been looking into BFGoodrich KM3 & KO3 and also Kinda KLever M/T2.
It’s my daily and my trail ride. 80/20 ( dirt, some rock and or mud, wet,dry, never know what ya might face in Mississippi).
35x12.50-15.

Just changed out a set of KO 3s on a kid’s Rubi who got 73k on the set. Rotating every 5k. Plays in the dirt on the regular.

That being said I’ve always been partial to Geolander MT G03s. They always get me home.

I don't believe you. I need confirmation. I was thinking of buying those at Walmart online because they're $187 each (35x12.50x15) with free shipping.

I went with BFG KM3 33x12.5R15 after I bought my current TJ last year and my buddy did same for his recently. Both are dedicated trail rigs, so maximum tread wear life not as important as off-pavement traction. On my former 2000 TJ, I went through (3) sets GY MT/R in same size but those are not longer available in 15" sizes. Decision on smaller than 35" also factored the 42RLE trans and 5.13 gearset

My Rubicon has 16” rims and these are outstanding tires at least compared to my KO2 load E
1200 for five mounted and balanced

Jeep is currently tucked away in my storage unit so pics to come at a later date

I went with the Mickeys this go round as they had a substantial weight savings over the other options. They come in a little under sized but the Jeep is under powered anyway.

That being said I’ve always been partial to Geolander MT G03s. They always get me home.

That Geolander is a good tire and comes in surprisingly light.

The BFG All-Terrain T/A was introduced in late 1975.

The BFG KO was released in early 2000.

BFG unveiled the redesigned KO2 in November 2014, about 11 years ago.

BFG redesigned the tire again in 2024, releasing the KO3 less than two years ago.


The tire has been steadily improved over the years with two major redesigns and is not at all the same tire introduced 50 years ago.

(I have owned every version of the BFG All Terrain and currently have KO3's on my midsize pickup. I have also used Yokohama, Goodyear, Cooper, Mickey Thompson, Toyo, and Interco. Of all of them, the BFG KO2 and KO3 have proven to be the best all-around tires with Cooper Discoverer AT3, ST/Maxx and the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT close behind. When I replace my tires, I will likely choose the KO3 or Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. If I choose a MT instead, the Cooper STT Pro will be the top contender.)

Are we going down this "small size" rabbit hole again?

BFG and every other tire manufacturer publish the actual diameter of their tires. Anyone who believes that nominal tire sizes mean actual dimensions must be new.

For example:


Falken Wildpeak MT- listed size 35x12.50R15 has an actual diameter of 34.5".

Cooper STT Pro - listed size 35x12.50R15 has an actual diameter of 34.6".

BFG KM3 - listed size 35x12.50R15 has an actual diameter of 34.5".



If the exact diameter of a tire matters to you, look it up before you buy.

No I haven’t and don’t know anything about them. Jeep came with worn out BFG tires when I bought it. I have driven jeeps with Falkens, Nitto, and no complaints. I like Cooper- had them on a few pickups, The group I ride with has Falkens, Nitto, Toyo, and Cooper. BFG, Mickey, Cooper were on my short list when I replaced the tires, the local 4x4 shop had a great deal on the Mickeys so that’s what I went with.
