I have a friend with a 96 XJ that has a Chrysler 8.25 27-spline axle in it. He has Ten-factory shafts and a spartan locker in it. The axle has some issues with the gears/carrier, and he has a 29-spline 8.25 out of a 2001 XJ, same 3.55 gear ratio. Could he swap the shafts and locker into the "new" axle carrier? I don't believe there is any difference between the 27 and 29 spline 8.25 besides the spline counts.
