My TJ came with a black Bestop soft top. I know that because of a little tag on it. But, is there a way to tell if it's sailcloth or twill?

Twill feels more like a high quality fabric and looks like what you'd see on an expensive convertible like a Mercedes, BMW, etc. It looks like it'd be more easily damaged. Sailcloth is woven too but it feels more like a synthetic and a bit less delicate looking. The factory only installed Sailcloth tops.

Yeah, your description convinces me it's Sailcloth. BTW, your suggestion of using Aerospace 303 on it was fantastic! I can't believe the difference. It went from looking like an old, worn, faded, stained top to looking brand new. I did put on some nitrile gloves and used a microfiber cloth to work the 303 into the seams and spread the excess around. Very happy with the result!
