Can't get side marker to work on passenger side

99 TJ. Only my passenger side marker does not work at all. Neither with running/parking lights or when blinker is on. I replaced the bulb and nothing. Even switched with the other side bulb to make sure it wasn't a bad bulb but nothing.

Stupid me basiclaly pulled apart all the taped up wires thinking that maybe it was wired differently by the previous owner. I compared both sides and the wiring seems to be the same.

I used a circuit tester and confirmed it is getting voltage so I am stumped.

Could it be that it's not getting the enough voltage? Could it be the light socket? Could my flasher relay be bad? Any idea what else it can be?

The small metal contact at the bottom of the bulb socket is missing or corroded. You need to replace the socket using quality crimping methods

Took out bulb and tested both left and right prong with a simple circuit tester and it light up fine. Not the cleanest prongs for sure. Ordered a replacement socket anyway.

I don't know crap about electronics. I am assuming since the existing socket lit up the circuit tester then all should be fine. Even though is tests that it has volts could it still not function correctly?

It has power there but it's not making contact with the bulb..very common...if you want to make sure push and wiggle the bulb in the socket and I bet it lights up

edit: I was typing at the same time as P man - it appears he has experience with this.

What were you using to measure? There be corrosion or some other reason for resistance in the circuit, and the multimeter can show correct voltage, but the elevated resistance can restrict current flow when the bulb is inserted. A test light (with an incandescent bulb, not an LED) is a better tool in this situation.

I'm one of the least experienced people on here with electrical but nearly every yj or tj I have owned has this same issue.

I pulled out the bulb and really pulled apart the progs ensuring they would make contact. Still nothing. Not using LEDs however previous owner installed them in the instrument cluster. I don't think this would effect the parking and side marker lights. I didn't test with a multimeter just yet just a basic circuit tester. Kind that has a pointer and a little light than turns on. Gonna try with a multi meter tomorrow.

I wasn’t referring to LEDs in any of the vehicle’s lamp positions.

Is that “little light” on your tester an LED or an incandescent bulb?
