This entire album is nothing but car songs. I have the album that my uncle brought me when he came home after his stint in Vietnam, as well as a modern CD of the same album. For a car guy, it's one of the best albums out there.

I also have an album that I picked up at a thrift store that is nothing but the sounds of cars ripping down the quarter mile. The "tracks" (pun intended) are listed by what the vehicles are, and what size engines are in them. It's fun to listen to the high-winding small blocks, and the more lumbering big blocks. I want to say that the recordings are of the Winter Nationals in 1961, but I can't remember for certain. The album is tucked away in a box somewhere, but I can't remember exactly where at the moment, and I haven't seen it in years. I do know that I still have it, however, as it's not something that I would ever get rid of. I also have an album that is nothing but the sounds of either Grand Prix racing, or racing at Le Mans. Again, I cannot remember which. I bought it at the same thrift store probably twenty years ago.

When I was 13 or 14 I mounted a 1964 Chrysler Fury AM radio with a "wonder bar" into my night stand with an 8" Utah 2 way speaker and a 50 foot wire antenna stretched across the roof. I ran it off my train transformer. I could listen to WLS Chicago and KOMA Oklahoma City from Tucson. It had a little hum from the train transformer but didn't bother me, if I recall the hum was less noticeable when I cranked it up.

My dad was less that thrilled when he saw I was using his battery charger in the bedroom to power a 8-track player , of course I could only scrounge 1 speaker so no stereo sound .
