Do you guys have restrictions stating you 'have' to have one ?
I just cut mine out and replaced it with new larger pipe and muffler. :p

Ahhh ok now I get it....That sucks you have to replace it.

Why did it take an entire day?

I ask because I’m pretty sure I need new cats and o2 sensors.

Because the old ones needed a bunch of Kroil to penetrate the bolts. That and I was being slow, tedious, and lazy. I could do it in a matter of a few hours tops if I really wanted to get it done.

When you have kids though, you don't get much done in a timely manner.

So our 05 and 06’s have 2 cats... that’s a direct bolt on? No welding/cutting required? Also, how hard was it to replace?

Actually has three. 2004 has it as well.

Shane, since the third cat isn't monitored you should be able to get a universal model to weld in. Check the prices at RockAuto when you shop for Cats. They beat almost every option I could find when I replaced mine. Also, AVOID Bosal Cats like the plague, horrible fit.

A guy I know at the muffler shop in town today advised me to check the front two as well. He said the rattle could be echoed from the front two

My question is with the one rattling under my seat... why no CEL?

When one of my front cats failed a chuck of it ended up in the main cat and raffled around horribly. Take a rubber mallet and try hitting the main cat and see if you hear something rattling around. When I did that I could hear the contents rattling around in there.

It's not monitored by the O2 sensor.

It’s possible only part of the cat fell apart in the main cat and it’s stuck in there rattling around. That happened to one of my main cats too. Took it off, dumped out the broken bits and had it welded back on.
