Chasing a P0441 - Evap Incorrect Purge Flow code

I have been chasing this P0441 code – incorrect purge flow issue for a while now. Here is what I have done.:

1. I did a smoke test. It did not find any leaks in the system.
2. I replaced the gas cap with a new Mopar gas cap and reset the code. This lasted for a month or so then the code came back.
3. I checked the charcoal canister and purge valve. I found the charcoal canister was leaking the little charcoal BBs into the purge valve so I replaced both. I used OEM purge valve and installed it right side up. I not able to locate OEM purge canister for a 1997, so I found a replacement by scanning through this forum.. I reset the code and that lasted for a few weeks.

The code is back and I’m not sure where to look next. Any suggestions?

Check the fuel filler neck. Mine didn't show an issue in the first several smoke tests we did. Ended up the filler neck had holes in it and the smoke was coming out, but hiding in the body. Also once had a plastic fitting on top of the fuel tank that had cracked.

I've had that code a few times though and it can be a pain to run down. In fact, the last time I had it, I was searching for a cause for a handful of months when out of nowhere it went away on its own and never came back (knock on wood). It's been off for around 2 years now.

My wife's JK we need to clean and lubricate the O ring on her gas cap every fill up.

When you did the smoke test did you have the gas tank down? Those hoses and elbows on top of the tank are notorious.

VC120 charcoal canister? Standard Motor Products evap solenoid solved my 97 evap codes. I'd check the purge valve for charcoal again and make sure you can feel it clicking when it reaches open loop.
