How do I know what to check? How do I call codes up?

I am assuming you don't have a scan tool, so you can turn the key to the "on" position three times and the code or codes should be displayed.

On/off, on/off and then on in fairly rapid succession.

Or, go to your local parts store and they will read codes for free. O’Rileys, autozone etc….
