Check engine light on code P0455 large evap leak

Ok Jeepers, I've got another question. My check engine light came on with a code P0455 large evap leak. I've got a new gas cap on order but am doubting that's my problem, no big cracks in the rubber gasket. Has anyone had this issue on their TJ???

Yea, I bet it's gonna be the large hose at the top of the evap canister, it was on mine

Try putting Armor All, 303 Protectant, etc. on the gas cap gasket. Apply heavily, let it soak for a few minutes, then wipe it off. That will often rejuvenate the gasket so it will work for a week or so. The light will not go out immediately. It takes some driving before the the fault is cleared.

how did you fix the hose

The crack was on the edge of the hose. I just cut enough and reconnected it to the canister.

Did you by any chance start the engine with the gas cap off?

Possibly the Purge Control Valve or the Leak Detection Pump. Both are easy to replace. There could also be a crack in your gas tank. A little harder to fix.

Ever figure this out? Similar issue with 01. I will rule out gas cap for simple fact pumping gas nozzle clicks off.
