So the check gauges light came on and everything looked fine except the voltage. Got home checked the battery voltage it was fine roughly 14.5v running and 12.4 not running. Took the battery and alternator to the Napa both tested fine. Cleaned all battery cable connections and tightened at all ends including the ground at the block. Checked the harness on the back of the alternator it was a little melted so I replaced the plug. Light went off for about two days and is now back on. However the alternator is still charging the battery and it’s running fine. What am I missing? What should I check next.
Thanks

Alternator connects to the PDC... still using the stock cable with the fusable link? I'd check the PDC bolts.

I made sure those connections were tight and clean as well unfortunately. I didn’t check continuity of the useable link though. I’ll try that I suppose. Can’t hurt. What weird is the battery is staying charged and it seems to be running fine.

I may just swap to the all new 7 cable set fro Jeep Cables like I did with my Jeep on this one. I am happy with that set up on my Jeep.

I did the same on my 97. Wasn't terribly happy with it. PDC cable wasn't a 90 degree cable, don't like the short firewall ground cable that runs parallel with the main harness...and they give you a 150 and 200a fuse and block but no bracket or suggestions as to where to mount it.

I have a hydraulic crimper and I should have just rolled my own.

The fuse block wire either didn't get tightened enough, my battery terminal was a slight touch loose...but this happened...1600 mile road trip to Canada and back on the WABDR after an eighth day thrash to frame and tub swap my Jeep after my wife smashed into me and folded my frame.

Damn that sounds like a mess on both accounts. My Jeep has Highline fenders so everything had to be moved or modified under the hood so the cables made my life simpler however a 90 degree fitting at the off would have been a great addition to that set up.
