Chrysler 3.8 engine

So how bad is the 3.8 engine found in wranglers? I'm looking for real world experience not what you have read on the internet. Thanks in advance

I know several people with them. They all say the same thing, gutless and burns lots of oil. Power wise it’s the same power as the 4.0.

Lasts a long time. Proven long-term engine. Best mated with a manual transmission. I wouldnt hesitate to rock a JK with that combo.

People say they're awful with larger tires. I cannot speak on that. Surely gears would mitigate the slack.

Use a 10W-30 motor oil.
Do not use the 5W-20 as directed in the Owners Manual.

Guy at work has 180k on his 3.8. Doesn’t burn a drop of oil. But he was religious in his maintenance methods.
