On my 2004 rubicon, i have a factory cig lighter, and a factory power port. The cig lighter is blowing fuses at random times. its the proper 20 amp fuse, but I usually notice because I have a PHOOOONE charger in there (don't judge me Zorba) and it obviously dies when the fuse blows.

Are there any areas those typically short out at that I can check first? its def an intermittent short, I can put a fuse in and it lasts anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 weeks until i jostle it just right and it blows. The less I have to unloom the harness and the less I have to remove from the dash, the better. So if there is a common spot they short out, i'm all ears. Otherwise, i guess i'll tear the damn dash apart, again...

The phone charger might be causing the short or you may even have a short in wiring somewhere.

Its for sure not the phone charger. I've tested it with other things and had it blow, also had it blow with nothing at all in it. So its for sure a short somewhere, just need to figure out where.

I'd start by pulling the center dash section and your glove box. You can visually inspect about 90 percent of the wiring doing that...and it's probably 15 minutes to pull both.

Although before you get started I'd measure the ohms between the cigarette lighter and the fuse.
