Cleaning brown from tires

I have found that the best way to clean tires is to scrub the h@!! out of them with a bristle brush as pictured below with the same water/vehicle soap you use for washing the paint then hose em off real good, then after they are completely dry, spray them with Armorall Protect then let that dry for a few hours, no need to wipe the access off the actual tire but wipe the overspray off the wheel. Protect is made for trim, I know, but it leaves a clean black finish that last for days "if it doesn't rain every day like it has been here" thats not so shiny like all the tire shines. Have been doing it like this for years now and it's the only way.

I've been reading this thread about brown tires and really didn't know what was being discussed or why until this afternoon when I happened to see my spare. This tire has never been anywhere other than where it currently is. The rear sidewall and just a touch of the tread is brown. Apparently it got that way from spraying Turtle Wax Wet & Black on it some time last fall. I know I only sprayed the sidewall and whatever hit the tread, hit the tread but I didn't want to do the whole thing and make it slippery. It might not have looked perfectly new before I sprayed it but looked very good after I sprayed it and here it is today. I don't see me using anything again. EVER.

I'll also say this is the first time I did any real off roading and and that ground is pretty much frozen and certainly not dusty.

That's exactly what I ended up doing, and they look pretty good now. Good thing is I don't drive it every day and it stays in the garage.
