Hello everyone
I’ve searched all over for a possible solution to the annoying clunking sound I’m hearing when going up a slight incline (like an off ramp) and turning left.
This started happening when I put some new wheels and tires on the Jeep which are pro comp 69 15x8 3.75 backspace with 31x10.5x15 bfg ko2 tires. Got the tires speed balanced and alignment from a local Mavis here in New Jersey and they did not find that looked like it needed attention. And yes, I know they are a tire shop.
Going to work that night about 2-3 hours later and heard that awful clunk.
The suspension seems intact with no abnormal movement or busted ball joints/tie rod ends. The shocks were replaced a couple weeks before the tires along with the rear sway links which have no play. Front sway links were replaced last year and checked out fine. Axle U joints replaced this week and there’s no play in the tires when jacked up but there is a slight humming at higher RPMs. Maybe a wheel bearing?
Giving up I took it to a shop which they said it can be either the front differential going out (which was recently serviced and works just fine with no noises) or transmission mount. That’s without them test driving it or putting it on a lift.
Are there any other places that I should look?
Any information or past experiences you guys have to share will be greatly appreciated.
