I have a 99 4.0 with an ax-15. had trans rebuilt around 155k its just past 180, ( so 30k and maybe 6 years on fluid)
Been sitting for a while i noticed while reving high and shifting from 2 to 3 there was a slight grind like it didn't want to go into gear. Clutch engagement was about 1/2 - 3/4.
Changed the fluid and it was BLACK... I ordered red line mtl 90 but got sent 80 weight, put it in anyway. and now my clutch engages like a 1/2 inch from full compression. Shifts feel very tight. I have to have clutch all the way in and slowly put pressure and it will go into gear with out any noise. If i shift too fast is seems like it starts to grind.
why would fluid change, change my clutch engagement?
Should i change the fluid again?
