Clutch Issues

I have a 2004 Rubicon. When I was driving yesterday, the clutch was sticking when I would release it at a stop. Also when I was shifting I would hear a noise like the clutch cable was straining. What could be the problem? Thanks

The clutch is a hydraulic system. It has a master cylinder and a slave cylinder. You might be hearing the throwout bearing being pushed against the pressure plate. Mine makes some noise when I push it but it has never gotten stuck.
