I took several pictures when I changed my heater core and evap core a few years ago. I had to do mine over several days due to my work schedule so I was worried I’d forget where some connectors went and some hardware. I put painters tape on each side of a connector and started labeling all of them with letters that way I knew where everything connected. I also put screws in ziplock bags and labeled them accordingly. I wasn’t really hard to do, just time consuming.
