Cowl intake airbox

I am going to do the cowl intake, but cannot find the Buick 3.3l v6 airbox.

Any one know what other terms airboxs have? I tried looking on eBay for Buick 3.3 airbox, air intake, air, etc and couldn't find it.

What model Buick it the 3.3l v6 airbox from and what years was it produced?

What other airboxes would work for the cowl intake mod?

What's the reason for wanting a cowl intake just out of curiosity?

Almost tipping the airbox into water. Especially going nose first. I don't slam into the mud or water but I've gotten to the top of the headlights before especially going into it.

Be careful... If you get up to the airbox in standing water for too long, you may fry your electronics. This is why I always laugh at guys with snorkels. They're under the impression they can submerge their Jeep in water up over the airbox without fucking up all their electronics (i.e. sensors, ECM, etc.).

A hydrolocked engine is much worse than some damaged electronics. And it does sound like I'm downplaying the electronics but I'm not trying to. I am not one that thinks a Jeep is invincible with a snorkel. It's more of a precaution. I've extended my breathers and I've put electric grease on all my connections. Not perfect but It it should be much better then not doing it. I don't like the look of the normal snorkel but do like the cowl snorkel. I prefer the look of no snorkel but I've been in a few close calls and my dad did hydrolock his JK engine when he went thru a mud pit right after me. Granted it's a Jk but it is a fear that is all too real.

I totally agree with the electronics getting damaged, and a diesel is the way to go. Which is why I suggested buying a used surplus Humvee if you want to drive in water on another thread.

And I have a spare Cowl panel so if I got sick of it I could swap the panel and buy a rubber plug and fill the hole and swap airboxes and it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Mostly I'm just looking for a year and make of the Buick that had the 3.3l v6 used in the cowl intakes for TJs, as well as what Buick or other brands would call an air box. No clue where to find it. Closest thing I found was a Nissan or something 3.3 but I'm fairly confident it's not the same haha

I mostly just want to shift the intake back a bit. I'm not going to drive around in lakes and rivers with my "submarine" Jeep.:risas3:

Not to mention I can't find one for sale cheap so I may give up.

Another idea: I too like the look of a snorkel less Jeep.

Is there a way to put some tubing over the airbox intake so the intake is moved back near the firewall, ziptie and rtv it? I would probably seal the holes in the bottom of the airbox and seal the two halves together with rtv or grease and just every year cut it apart and change filters. Seems exceessive but I'm just brainstorming.

I don't mind the height of the intake. I just wish it was located back farther.

My main fear is nosing into a puddle and slipping into it. I know the inTake is way better designed than the JK intake but still worry about it. usually scout the puddles by foot but sometimes I don't bother.

I do understand the obvious answer is: stay away from water.

It uses the stock Ford Windstar air filter. I'm going to check my filter today, and can take a couple of more pics of everything.
