Damn, here we go again!

From the same locations as @StG58, an 05” X with 2.5”OME springs and Bilstein 5100 on 31x10.5, on level concrete.

LF 16 5/8”
RF 16 1/2”
LR 17 3/8”
RR 17 1/4”
So, other than my wobbly table leg, you are about the same in front and about 3/4" taller in the back with the OME springs. Heavier in front with the 4.0 though.

Yep, I noticed that. Interesting. In addition to the engine, possibly the front bumper and winch pulling it down some too, about 120lb. An advantage for the 4 angry squirrels!

Next time I load out for the back country, I'll measure it again. That'll be interesting, as the back goes down some.

Analysis of my numbers. Just now looking closely at them.

1/8” higher on drivers side both F and R and a 3/4” rake on both L and R. I like what I’m seeing! Very consistent!

Way more consistant than my H&R springs. But is it the TJ, or the springs?

This is actually pretty interresting, because I thought the H&R didn't actually lift the truck at all, and from what I was hearing the OME was going to give 2.5. This information is good and should probably be put up somewhere.

Looks like you have a 1/4 inch offset on one side. I wonder what it was new. Does that co-inside with the quarter inch diff on the new springs?

Looks like all 3 of us are sagging a tick on the right rear. Last I measured the spring height, all 4 springs have sagged by 1/4". That's not bad considering the age with 115K miles on them. Based on our raw data, the H&R springs seem to be keeping the jeep just as level as the OME springs do, so I'm not sure what's behind the spring height offset of he OME's. Maybe a call to ARB can shed some light.

In researching myself without making any calls I found that the H&R were progressive springs like they use in BMW's, and they get as good of reviews as the OME. I only really went OME, because of the slight more lift, but looking at this data, It looks like I would have been in the same boat with either spring. Although I bet the H&R are built for a stockish TJ where the HD OME's might have slight advantage having new bumpers and winch maybe. Not saying anything against H&R and it probably doesn't make any difference but you will get the same spring weather you add weight or not where as OME you have a choice of two different springs.

Also OME weirdly offers two different front shocks but if you order the kit you only get the light duty front shocks, but since I went heavy duty all of the way around I ordered the heavy duty front shocks. Another good reason to order in pieces rather than a kit. It was actually cheaper to order it in pieces than it was the kit and the kit had parts I didn't need like the new steering stabalizer. I already have an OME one.

I'm not sure what the H&R advertising is all about. The usual lift is from an 1" to an 1-1/2" for a set of H&R springs. That's the range that's been pretty consistantly reported across the interwebs.

It would be interesting to get someone with stock springs in good shape to report what their measurements are.

The H&R springs for Jeeps aren't progressive, unfortunately (or fortunately). H&R makes a lot of progressive springs, but the one's they make for us just aren't.

This is news to me. I do know they used to offer longer travel shocks, but not sure about the LD/HD option. What part # are they?

No scientific experiment would be complete without pictures, right?

Well, it's been 10 years since I bought my OME kit, so interesting that they have a LD/HD shock option. Wonder what the differences are? Different valve setup?

I couldn't find that exact info other than it is for a little more weight and since I have the winch and bumper that would justify this shock. I read a forum thread where they have the same set up as I just ordered and they loved it, so I took their word for it and went for it. I figured a bundled kit would have to appeal to the masses so the lighter shocks probably would have worked but I thought if I ever do disconnect the front discos and with the weight of the winch I would probably appreciate a little stiffer shock in the front end. And if I don't like them, I will try the bilsteins next time. but I found that for the most part most people liked both more people said that the bilsteins were more stiff than anybody complained at all about the Nitro sport shocks. So i figured I would try these first. And who knows maybe in 10 years when I have replaced them 3 times, I will have good information for a new TJ owner like you.

If we’d all measure our springs we’d know the true lift of the H&R and the OME on our rigs. The measurements we took near the LCA frame brackets have too many variables to know true lift. Last time I checked with my hardtop on

LF 14 3/4”
LR 11 3/8”
RF 14 3/4”
RR 11 3/8”

That’s 2 3/4” up front and 3 3/8” in rear. I don’t think I believe that anymore. I’ll get a current measurement.

If you show me or tell me where you want me to do some exact measurements I will do some before and after measurements, but It will be a few weeks before the after.
