I bought an 05 sport from my son who had rolled over a rock and punctured a hole in the bottom of the rear end. I have been searching to replace the dana 35 as a complete unit. Any advice on new used or matching up a perfect fit??? Thanks for any help I’m new to this forum

Welcome to the forum. Have you checked salvage yards near you? A used dana 35 out of a TJ would be your best bet - and the least expensive route.
We want to see pics of this hole punched in the housing.
Whether new or used make sure the gearing is the same as the front.
No pics of the hole, got a new phone. I am eye balling a Dana 35 on eBay. 850 bucks complete. Salvage yards are hard to do when I work the Hrs I work. But I have tried with no success. Can y’all answer this is there only 1 Dana 35 for the TJ?
You need to make sure it has the same gear ratio. So long as its from a tj it will bolt right in otherwise.
Maybe someone can correct me but i don't think the Dana 35 got discs in a tj?

This is how to determine your present axle ratio. There's a steel tag bolted onto each axle's diff cover at its 9 o'clock position. The one below is indicating the axle is geared with a 3.73 ratio. Know that the front and rear axle ratios are .01 different from each other so don't be alarmed if one says 3.73 and the other says 3.74, that's normal. That .01 difference is only because of the slight difference in ring gear diameters between the front and rear axles.
