My mechanic is going to install used 4.56 gears from USA Standard Gear in my TJ with Dana 30/35 axles. I received the gears as spare parts with the jeep and he said I need new shims and bearings. I think I should get a set of "master overhaul kits" but I'm having trouble finding the USA Standard Gear ones available. Can I use another brand of kit like the Revolution Gear ones for example? It seems like there shouldn't be any problem but I'd like to be sure, as the shipping costs will probably cost as much as the parts themselves. Thanks

Any master install kit for your year and diff model will work for the install, it's just bearings, seals, and shims pre-packaged in a kit. But my concern would be installing a used set of gears! how used are they and why were they removed in the first place. Being used may make them harder to set up properly.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. I don't know why the gears were removed but the mechanic said they are in great shape and he thinks buying new ones would be a waste of money
