I was driving down the road shortly after buying my tj in what i thought was 2wheel high but it was very shaky and when i hit 100 i mad a loud bang and wouldnt drive but it would drive in what it says is 4 wheel high it drives alot smoother and i beleive its actually driving in 2 wheel. So the question is will i need a transfer case because that what i beleive the problem is i havent tried putting it in any other modes im afraid to make the vehicle undrivable

When I first saw "100" in your post, I thought "Who the hell drives their TJ at 100 mph?!?!" Then it hit me: 100 kph. Quite the difference! I don't have an answer for you, but there are folks on this forum who are very knowledgeable, and may be able to help. Best of luck, and welcome to the forum.

Is there a lift on the TJ, body lift of suspension lift with t-case drop? Your issue could very well be that the transfer case shifter linkage may be off adjustment.

Figured it out i cant beleive i didnt think of it when i bought it the guy just did the u joint and must have done it wrong i blew the rear drive shaft out the back end and it does have 2"level but now i know what needs fixed so i can get it done

Can you elaborate on what " i blew the rear drive shaft out the back end" means? Sounds pretty serious. May take more than a u-joint to fix.

Oh man, take some photos if you can. I want to see the damage.

After reading what the damage is, going back and reading the original post is almost a "DOH!" moment. It totally comes together, the cause and affect...

Well i just got lovely news from my mechanic when i got the jeep home i looked around and knew it would need rear brakes driveshaft tires and drivers floor pan but the guy fixing it just pulled the interior all out to find almost ever body mount rusted out and a few frame spots where the body bolts on so bot only am i in the all the other stuff bow ive got thousands in body work to do it was quite the punch to the vut being that im 16 and already am in it for 3000 so rather then selling it off to some other guy to have a headache im sinking more money then i have into it in hopes that i might end up with a solid jeep when all is said and done

Sorry to hear that. Rust is indeed the biggest thing to look out for when buying a used Wrangler. These things are so prone to rusting, and you certainly aren't the first one who has had this happen to them. The good news is that you live and learn, and I guarantee you you won't make the same mistake again.

Yup im just glad that ive got a few good buddys that know what there doing and know im a young guy in a bad position and there gunna help me get this through safety i mean i can work my tail off to pay for it but once all is said and done ill still have the jeep and a good story to go with it plus i dont have to write it off i at least have options

I would look at the linkage for the 4wd because i know i've had trouble with mine and i've heard its notoriously bad. when you get uner there it looks like such an afterthought. Mine has completely fallen out in 4lo before and i had to use a tire iron to force it back into gear and then pull all of it and re bend it and get the spacing right.
